On December 23, some years ago, a physician, approximately mid-40's in age, stepped into our office. He was distraught because the day prior he was convicted of Medicare fraud. Our firm offered our services in respect to the sentencing, and strategy for his appeal in federal court.
Several months later another distraught physician walked into our office. This physician was in his late 60's and had recently retired. He was being investigated by the FBI for Medicare fraud. This physician had a high-price attorney on retainer. The physician was not satisfied with the costly representation and contacted our firm. Again, we offered our services.
Mr. Cernyar, who had representative an insurance firm in a $100 million healthcare fraud matter, realized that both physicians did not understand the ramifications of their Medicare audit. Mr. Cernyar believes that these physicians situations may have been different if these physicians had retained his services prior to the Medicare audit.
Mr. Cernyar progressively changed his practice to assist Medicare providers during the audit and appeals stage in order to reduce or eliminate their exposure to healthcare fraud. Since then, Mr. Cernyar has successfully defended medical providers in private insurance and Medicare audits & appeals, along with aggressively defending those alleged to have committed healthcare fraud.
